There is Scarcity of Good Taxi Cabs in FESTAC Town

There is scarcity of good taxi cabs in Festac Town located in the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, the commercial capital of Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa with more than 177 million people.

Festac Town is a federal government housing estate located along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway leading to the Republic of Benin. The name is derived from the acronym FESTAC, which stands for Second World African Festival of Arts and Culture that was held in Nigeria in 1977.
Festac Town is densely populated from lower class to upper middle class urban settlements on seven avenues.

The lower class residents live in blocks of tenements of storey buildings called "civilian barracks".
The middle class residents live in three bedrooms bungalows and one storey buildings in gated streets.
The upper middle class residents live in mansions of duplexes in gated estates.

There are several "Danfo" minibuses, "Okada" motorbikes and "Keke Marwa" tricycles, but few taxi cabs for public transport.
Many of the residents in the middle class areas have regular visitors who need to use taxi cabs for convenience whenever they don't come with their own cars or SUVs. But they often have to wait for more than ten minutes to get a taxi cab. And that means there are not enough taxi cabs in Festac Town.

Taxi cab business is very profitable in Africa's largest megacity with a teeming population of more than 22 million people and increasing daily by thousands.

The best routes for taxi business in Lagos city are the following:
1. Victoria Island.
2. Ikoyi.
3. Ikeja GRA.
4. FESTAC Town.
5. Magodo GRA.

Taxi cabs on these routes make more money without stress. But taxi cabs in the ghettos make less money, because they cannot get regular commuters who can afford to pay well. And police officers in these areas are not as disciplined as those in the upper middle class and upper class areas of Lagos city.
