The Palme d’Or is encrusted with 167 diamonds!

The Swedish filmmaker, Claes Olle Ruben Östlund jubilating on Sunday night

The jeweler, Monsieur Chopard chosen to make the new encrusted Palme d'Or said it was made with 118 grams of pure gold and 0,694 carat of mini diamonds.
It is first poured in a wax mold, injected with gold, and then softened by hand. The palm settles on a one-kilogram crystal cushion, which grants it its special uniqueness.

The Palme d'Or is costlier than the Oscar of the Academy Awards of the United States of America.
The Oscar is made of gold-plated britannium on a black metal base, it is 13.5 in (34.3 cm) tall, the award weighs 8.5 lb (3.856 kg) and depicts a knight rendered in Art Deco style.

LAS VEGAS, May 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The month of May has been what dreams are made of for Allee-Sutton Hethcoat. She is a person who inspires and motivates young women throughout the country with her work as an actress, model, and soon-to-be attorney.

Who Will Win the 70th Anniversary Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or?

French director Robin Campillo's "128 Beats a Minute" about French AIDS' activists is tipped to win the Palme d'Or.

Who Will Win the 70th Anniversary Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or?

19 films in the Official Selection are in competition for the special 70th Anniversary Palme d'Or encrusted with 167 diamonds to be won today at the closing ceremony Sunday night in the Palais des Festival.
The winners will be selected by President of the Jury, Pedro Almodovar and the members; Jessica Chastain, Maren Ade, Will Smith, Agnes Jaoui, Park Chan-wook, Paolo Sorrentino, Fan Bingbing and Gabriel Yared. But many of the notable film critics have not been very excited or impressed by the films. In fact, some critics said Un Certain Regard Award winner “Lerd,” by Mohammad Rasoulof is better than some films in the main competition. The other winners announced yesterday included Best Director: Taylor Sheridan for his “Wind River”, Jury Prize won by Michel Franco for “April’s Daughter”, Jury Award for Best Actress won by Jasmine Trinca for “Fortunata” and Special Award for Poetry of Cinema won by Mathieu Amalric for “Barbara”.

70th Anniversary of Cannes Film Festival: Alors, Où est Nollywood?

70th Anniversary of Cannes Film Festival:
Alors, Où est Nollywood?

Hollywood and Bollywood stars are on the red carpet at the 70th Anniversary of the annual #Cannes Film Festival closibg tomorrow, Sunday in France, but #Nollywood stars are still here in Nigeria, competing for who makes the front pages on #Nairaland, #BellaNaija and #LindaIkeji for their cheap publicity stunts and bragging rights on Instagram. Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook. Instead of going to Cannes and the Oscars, Queen of Nollywood, Mrs. Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde goes to the Grammy Awards without even stepping on the red carpet.

A Tunisian woman is in official competition at the on going Cannes Film Festival, but no Nigerian filmmaker has ever qualified for official selection in the 70 years of Cannes when several filmmakers from other African countries have qualified and even won prizes, and yet we are bragging about being the second largest film industry in the world. We make too much noise without making sense in Nollywood.

Hollywood, Bollywood, Tollywood and other film industries are at the Cannes, but Nollywood is not there.
That says a lot about the shortcomings and failures of the Nigerian film industry.

That is the Big Picture!
Only the best is good enough for us.
We will not settle for less.
Keep smiling and keep shining!
You were born to shine!

Happy Children's Day! We Must Save All Children from Dangers and Evils

George Benson and Luciano Pavarotti live performance of " The Greatest Love of All ".

Happy Children's Day!

Only the best is good enough for our children. Therefore, we must do our best to give them the best in life no matter the circumstances of their birth.
Lest we forget, NO CHILD ASKED TO BE BORN.
If you cannot provide for a child, PLEASE, don't have one.
It is evil and wicked to breed children you cannot feed.
No child asked to be born poor to suffer in the world.
Underprivileged children did not ask to be born underprivileged.
Every child deserves equal opportunity in life and not to be born disadvantaged to the privileged children of the rich.
90 percent of crimes are committed by criminals who were born into poverty and grew up with bitterness and anger to be antisocial and rebellious against the society. So, we must discourage the poverty stricken suffering poor masses to stop them from breeding the next generation of underprivileged children who will unleash the fury of their misery on the innocent people in the society.
There will be no end to poverty until the poor will no longer breed kids they cannot feed; cannot send to school and cannot take good care of them.
You don't need children you cannot feed.

Don't breed children you cannot feed.
Acting President of Nigeria, Prof. Oluyemi Osinbajo celebrating 2017 Children's Day with school children in the Aso Villa State House in Abuja.

Our children are our future and they deserve to survive as we have survived, because our parents, guardians or caregivers provided for us to protect and save our precious life to grow up to adulthood.
We should be more concerned about the orphans who have been deprived of the joys of their own parents. We must not let anyone or anything harm any fatherless and motherless child. We stop anyone we see maltreating any child before it is too late.
Neighbours and also passers by must stop anyone you see beating any child. And call the police or child welfare authorities immediately. Don't delay, because to delay can cause terrible harm or even death of the maltreated child.

One of my favourite songs is "Greatest Love of All" by the famous George Benson for our children.

"Greatest Love Of All"
(For All Our Children)

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody is searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone to fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

[Chorus:]
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

[Chorus]

And if by chance, that special place
That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love.
