The Nollywood diva Genevieve Nnaji is the most celebrated Nigerian actress since 2007 to date and commands awesome stardom across the African continent and among millions of Africans in the Diaspora for her outstanding award winning roles in scores of movies making her the quintessential Nollywood actress and applauded by the famous Oprah Winfrey who called her the "Julia Roberts of Africa" on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2009.
She is the first actress to win the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the inaugural event in 2005.
She also received the honour of Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for her contribution to Nollywood.

The TIME celebrated Omotola Jalade Ekeinde as the "Queen of Nollywood" on the list of 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2013.


She won the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in the inaugural edition in 2005 and many other awards since her breakthrough role as "Kemi" in the 1996 Nollywood classic "Mortal Inheritance" directed by Andy Amenechi and produced by Zeb Ejiro, made her a household name in Nigeria.
She received the honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic from the Nigerian government in 2014.


The Nigerian Queen of Comedy, Funke Akindele, aka "Jenifa" has won most of the awards for best actress for comedy in Nollywood.


She has won the popular Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for Best Actress in a Leading Role for "Jenifa" in 2009 and other awards.
She leads the pack for her successful TV series, "Jenifa's Diary" for which she has won the highly coveted Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) in 2014, 2016 and 2017.
