Back for a 2nd season, The 5-Min Video Challenge is for these filmmakers to showcase their creative talent in telling stories through a short 5-minute clip.

The video competition is held at both local and regional levels. It was kicked off in July 2017 by Singtel, Optus and associates -- Airtel (India and Africa), AIS (Thailand), Globe Telecom (Philippines), Telkomsel (Indonesia) -- in their own markets. After running for about two months, a panel of judges comprising local filmmakers selected 2 best films to compete at the regional finals on 22 November 2017.

On that night, the Grand Winner and Runner-up will be crowned, selected by a panel of judges comprised of known filmmakers from each country.

There's also another prize -- People's Choice Award -- which will be decided by members of the public. Afterall, films will be nothing without the audience. The public in the participating countries -- Australia, Africa, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand -- can select 2 films that they feel deserve the cash prize of US$3,000 and US$2,000, respectively. They do this by voting for their favourite films at http://www.the5minvideo.com/finalists-2017/. Voting closes on 19 November.

The Grand Winner will receive US$30,000 in cash and a camera set sponsored by Sony worth more than US$5,000. The runner-up stands to win US$15,000 and a camera set from Sony worth more than US$4,000. Additionally, a new category called the Sony's Emerging Talent Award will see prizes worth over US$5,000 given to two films for outstanding technical skill and cinematography.
