"Rafiki": You Cannot Ban the Truth

You cannot ban the truth!
You can only hide it.

Kenyan Wanuri Kahiu’s Rafiki (Friend) is in competition for the Queer Palm in the Un Certain Regard section of the on going 71st annual Cannes Film Festival. But the LGBT film has been banned in Kenya..
Why ban a beautiful film that is saying the truth?

Lesbianism has been existing in East Africa before Kenya was formed.
Lesbian lovers are nothing new under the sun.
They are common realities of life among innocent girls and women and often seen in girls boarding schools to hostels on and of campus.
The ban has only poured fuel to the fire started on the theme. The ban is what is making it the talk of the Cannes Film Festival and not for being the first Kenyan film to be in Official Selection at the Cannes.

"Vous ne pouvez pas interdire la vérité!"
